Mapsource with Garmin Etrex HCx?
The map that came with the gps in mapsource only shows interstates and big highways. how do i get it to show smaller residential roads? I read through the manual and saw something about an unlock code, but it said if i needed one it would have a symbol on the box and it would come with a piece of paper with a code on it. mine had neither.
You are seeing the base map that all members of the etrex family come with.
The base map is also the only map that comes built into the etrex.
The mapsource software that comes with the etrex is for managing your waypoints, tracks, and routes.
If you want a better map, you need to purchase it. You can purchase road maps, topo maps, or marine maps to meet what you want to do with the unit. The additional maps you purchase are also managed with the mapsource software.
