hiking vacations colorado
I’m looking for a lush, green vacation spot somewhere not too far from LA.?
My bf and I need to get away. We want to spend a weekend at a bed and breakfast in a lush, green area near mountains, and spend the day walking around. Hiking, shopping in a small market, etc. We want a very small town feel for it but it HAS to be green.
We live in LA, and are looking for smth not too far away but we do not want to drive. Most of SoCal is dry and deserty, so we want something very different. Yosemite and Sequoia aren’t green enough for us 
We’re thinking about Colorado Springs, but don’t know how green it is, or if it has that small-town feel. Has anyone been there?
Other suggestions have been Portland and Tahoe, but arent sure abt those either. Portland seems too urban.

Colorado Springs is probably not the right place for you. It’s on the plains, which is semi-arid. It’s not really that small, as it has 370,000 people and traffic can be a nightmare. If you want ‘lush’, you’d better be looking in the north CA, OR, WA region, since all the real mountain states (CO, UT, WY, NM, etc) are either dry or alpine or both. You could also look on the east coast (VA, etc). Unfortunately, I’ve never been to Portland and I don’t have any suggestions for you. To me, lush is synonymous with wet and mosquito infested. But, that’s just me.
